Prosperity Vs. Avarice

God's Plan versus My PlanJeremiah 29:11  For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (NIV)

Dearly Beloved:  May God’s love, grace and peace be upon you and may you prosper in the Lord.  Amen!
It seems today that everyone wants to be wealthy, but not everyone understands what that means.  You can be wealthy with material things, yet poor in the spirit.  Likewise, you can have an abundance of the Holy Spirit beyond measure and yet be physically dirt poor.  I would choose the latter over the former any day of the week and twice on Sunday.  For, what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world yet has not love?  God is love and love is God.  Without love, without God, it is pointless to exist and you shall forever feel empty and incomplete.  Now, let me be clear…God wants us to prosper both spiritually and sometimes financially.  He wants all of our needs met both physically and spiritually.  That is a fact.  Solomon and David are prime examples of the wealth God can lavish on His children.  When you are a child of God, you are meant to prosper.  Of course, there are times such as in the case of Job when suffering may be part of His plan.  In His infinitely divine wisdom, He sometimes allows folks to be physically poor.  Just as steel needs to be pounded and tempered, so too must God’s children in order to gain strength and wisdom. Undefeatable In CHRIST

MLKquote_OnlyLoveCanDriveOutHateRomans 12:21  Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

May GOD’s strength, power, light, wisdom and glory be ever upon you all.  I have a confession to make.  My last post, “Unchain Your Heart“, was written over a year ago.  I have several backup posts in case I were unable or unwilling to write.  I was in a bit of a funk.  All the racisim and violence taking place in my country has deeply affected me.  Let me give my belated condolences to all the families of all the victims whether they were police officers or citizens.  The racial issues in our justice system are very personal to me as a person of color who is currently being railroaded and shafted by this wickedly unjust system.  It really struck a nerve in me and I could not write because I was so emotional that I would not have been able to serve GOD the way that I should.  As the violence continued down south, a decision was made in my appeal.  The judges found all kinds of excuses as to why it is okay to use someones skin color against them at trial.  They had little to back up their decision, so they included things that were not even argued at trial to justify their awful and politically motivated decision.  I expected that.  There is a terrible sickness in this country.  Racism is a plague.  People who turn a blind eye to it and pretend that it doesn’t exist are afraid. Unchain Your Heart 2:15  “…and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.”

Dear Readers:  Many of us spend a great deal of our lives in bondage, chained down by sin, pain, shame, loneliness and sadness.  I tell you that even though I am in physical bondage, I am freer than most people outside of the prison in which I reside.  Though my body is confined, I am spiritually free.  Indeed, I feel more free than I ever did in the outside world.  Hallelujah!  Praise God!  My mind has been unlocked.  My heart is no longer encased.  My soul has escaped the confines of death; for I am eternal in Christ Jesus.  That means that I shall never taste death, nor shall I ever know defeat.  I have not attained such on my own.  I traded my old life for a new one by accepting Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.  From the moment I first believed, I became eternally free.  Praise God!  And, I have never looked back.  My eyes stay on heaven and the glory of the Lord. God Loves America

pexels_woman-women-united-states-of-america-flag-92730Dearly beloved:  May God’s peace, mercy, love, light, blessings and grace be upon you and may GOD bless America, land that I love.
My country has not always been good to me nor I to it, but I truly Love America and at least part of her loves me.  Any true blue U.S. citizen holds a special place in his or her heart for this great nation.  I must admit that I am very afraid for my beautiful country.  I do not normally get involved in politics on this site, but l feel compelled to speak my mind.  There is a menace who threatens every ideal, every value that we hold dear and his name is Donald Trump.  I am afraid because many right leaning Christians seem to be ready to vote for the Donald, as he is arrogantly referred to.  Having no other choice of republicans to choose from, there seems to be a growing contingent among Christians who are willing to vote for Trump.  Despite the fact that he is clearly not in line with Christian values, Trump teaches hate and discontent.  He is a step backwards not forward for us.  I’m not saying Hillary is the right choice either, but she does not scare me in the way Trump does.  This fourth of July, as I reflect on the majesty of this great nation, I cannot help but fear for her future. Ignorance Is Not Bliss

Psalm 73:21-24  Thus my heart was grieved, And I was vexed in my mind.  I was so foolish and ignorant; I was like a beast before You.  Nevertheless I am continually with You; You hold me by my right hand.  You will guide me with Your counsel, And afterward receive me to glory.

Dearly Beloved:  May God’s mercy and prosperity be upon you.
So many people are ignorant of the truth; blind to the facts of reality.  Billions of people do not know JESUS or His Word.  They are ignorant of the truth.  Such ignorance leads to eternal separation from GOD.  I can assure you that there is nothing truly blissful about being separated from GOD.  I never felt more alone than when I was separated from the truth that is JESUS CHRIST.   Back then, I felt only momentary happiness.  I searched for bliss unsuccessfully.  Being a father brought me immense joy, but there was always something missing…something that I needed to feel complete.  I tried everything – women, substances, money.  NONE of it made me happy.  I bought doodads and trinkets, all manner of luxuries.  Nothing I tried worked.  I was ignorant and blind.  But, for all my ignorance, I felt nothing resembling bliss.  I felt damp and cold.  I was shrouded in darkness and in desperate need of light.  I never once felt settled.  Nothing in my life was safe or secure.  Do any of you feel like that right now?  Are any of you lost?  Is there an emptiness inside of you that seems as though it can never be fulfilled?  Do you feel unbalanced?  Are you thirsty and hungry for universal truth?  Do you lack a sense of purpose?  Are you missing the final piece of the puzzle that is existence?  You’re not alone.  I know how you feel.  I used to feel the exact same way. I can empathize with you.  You are plagued by an awful and destructive disease called ignorance.  The bad news is it is debilitating and leads to death.  The awesome news is it is curable. You don’t have to spend the rest of your existence in your current condition.  What you need is a huge dose of the gospel of JESUS CHRIST.  That is the only medicine that can cure your disease.  Nothing else will work. Believe me, I tried.  I was chasing foolishness.  It was utterly absurd.  All I did was make futile attempts to find lasting joy, real joy.  Sound familiar?  I was doing nothing more than running in circles, chasing a fantasy. Until the LORD, He changed everything.

Once I learned the truth, I was finally free from the chains of ignorance. A whole new plethora of possibilities was suddenly opened to me.  I have been awakened by the light.  I am no longer blind.  I see things clearly now.  My perception of reality has been forever altered for the better.  Doors that I never even knew existed are open to me now.  Things that I could not fathom in my wildest dreams are happening to me.  Yes, its true that I am physically in chains, but I am mentally and spiritually freer than I have ever been.  “How?”, you ask.  I am no longer ignorant to the one and only truth that truly matters.  I know the the truth about JESUS and the truth has set me free.  HALLELUJAH!  PRAISE GOD!

One cannot truly and fully elevate and grow without knowing the truth.  Ignorance is a leg iron that holds unbelievers back.  It keeps them from receiving their inheritance.  They are cut off from blessings and positive opportunities.  The dark is blinding.  Walking in it handicaps people.  It throws them off course. Why do you think it is that so many people lack a sense of direction and purpose?  Because they are walking blindly in total darkness.  They can’t see where it is that they are going.  They think that the misery that they feel is all there is to life.  To them, life is nothing more than a compilation of setbacks, challenges, heartache, loss and ultimately death. They don’t understand that there is so much more than that.  There is joy, there is purpose, meaning and blessings.  They can’t see it because they are in the dark.  And thus, they are the opposite of being blissful.  They are depressed and they live each day mourning the loss of the fantasy life they dreamed of living.  All the hopes they once had have long since evaporated into the ethereal.  They are miserable.

Ignorance is not bliss.  It is a gloomy death sentence.  Many of you can relate to what I am saying.  You once were ignorant, but you don’t have to be any longer.  No, sir.  I know a way that you can turn that frown upside down.  I know a way that you can illuminate the darkness so that you can see your path clearly.  Open up the Bible, read it and receive the light of the truth.  You need the gospel Truth to set you free.  You need JESUS to light your way.  Why would you keep stumbling blindly in the dark?  Now, I will admit that the path to the light is not an easy one, but it is well worth it.  It’s rewarding and paved with glory.  There is plenty of JOY to be had in serving the LORD.  All you have to do is truly want it with all your heart, mind and soul.  If you will only submit and admit, then ask for forgiveness, you can be whole and enlightened.  Let the LORD shake off your ignorance so that you can be truly blissful.  Use the following prayer as a guide.  Say it to the Lord; mean it, live it and breathe it.
“Dear Jesus, I know that because of my sin I need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins. I believe You rose again so I could live with You. I want to stop living for myself and start living for You. I want Your peace in my life. I want forgiveness for my sins. Please come into my heart and change my life. I want to live with You forever. I want You to be my Lord and Savior. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
If you said it and you meant it; if you gave your heart to JESUS, then you are my brother or sister and I welcome you to the light.  HALLELUJAH!  PRAISE GOD!  AMEN!  If you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, please contact us.  We want to hear from you and assist you.
May GOD bless and keep you!  May you break the chains of ignorance!  May you forever walk in the light and be blissful!  Amen!
Love in Christ,
(A Man whose chains of ignorance have been broken by the Light)

Ephesians 4:17-32
This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
But you have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
Therefore, putting away lying, “Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,” for we are members of one another. “Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil. Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need. Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

Connected By Christ

ConnectedByChristRomans 8:28  And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Dearly Beloved:
Greetings, blessings, peace, love, joy and grace unto you.  Amen!
Have you ever experienced an ominous connection between the people, places and things in your life?  I truly believe that there is purpose and meaning in everything we experience.  As Christians in possession of the Holy Spirit, our eyes become opened as we awaken to the truth of the light.  As we grow in our faith, we engage in a spiritual transformation.  We see the world through the eyes of JESUS.  Things which were once hidden are gradually revealed.  Hidden within the fabric of life, there is a single thread which ties everything, every event, every living thing, every micro-gram of matter together.

How many strange and unexplained “coincidences” have you experienced?  Think about it!  How many times have you thought of yourself as lucky?  Your rent is past due and suddenly some completely unexpected money appears.  You decide to run an errand after work which takes you a different route home and you later find out there was a tragic and fatal accident on your normal route which you avoided by feeling compelled to run that errand.  Maybe you get an overwhelming urge to check on your elderly parents (more…)

John 3:16-17  For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

Dearly Beloved: May God’s peace, love, understanding and mercy flow through you all.
Today is Sunday, June 12th, 2016 and it is a very sad day indeed.  Let me offer my heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims of the Orlando, Florida nightclub massacre.  My prayers are with you, the city of Orlando, the nation, the gay community and the family of the perpetrator.  I condemn the actions of any persons, especially those claiming to be Christian, who spew hate on others based on their sexual preferences or for any reason.  Let me be clear that, as a follower of Christ, I do not agree with or condone homosexuality.  It goes against my Christian principles; however, I cannot judge any human being and I do not love people any less because of their lifestyle choices.  They are still my fellow human beings.
The Bible is clear that ALL SOULS MATTER !
Mark 16:15  And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”
He didn’t say preach only to heterosexuals.  He didn’t say preach only to whites or people of color.  He said preach to every living creature. (more…)

Be Committed To Peace ! 14:19  Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another.

Dearly Beloved,
May God’s grace, joy, peace and love be ever upon you.
I’d like to talk to you about being committed to peace. We should strive to be at peace with God, ourselves and each other. The situation of incarceration that I currently find myself in requires one to be patient and disciplined. In order for one to live peacefully in here, one must master the skill of cohabitation, in close quarters, with others. As many of you who have been following this blog know, I spent nearly eight months in solitary confinement in the state of Maine. Before that, I spent close to three years in county jails fighting for my freedom. I did share a cell block with others, but I had single cells. I was completely alone in solitary, physically (spiritually, Jesus remained faithfully by my side.) Thus, for three years I have had my own space and slept alone. I have recently been assigned a roommate here in Massachusetts. His name, which is truly ironic in prison, is Freedom. It has taken some getting used to. You see, I have committed myself to living peacefully with others to the best of my God-given ability. It is with that commitment in my heart that I have taken on the challenge of living with someone in what is essentially a locked bathroom with bunk beds. (more…)

Be The Lord’s Ground ! 8:15  But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.

Dearly beloved:
May God’s grace, blessings, peace and joy be ever upon you.
Have you ever done any gardening or farming?  For those of you who haven’t, allow me to break a few things down for you about the process.  The first step is to find good, fertile ground.  The soil must be rich and well balanced with proper minerals and just the right pH level.  It should be well irrigated and on flat ground to insure optimum saturation.  It should be in an area that receives plenty of sunshine.  Next, the land needs to be cleared and tilled.  It needs to be sectioned in alignment.  Finally, it is ready to be moistened and seeded.

Jesus explains to us in Luke chapter 8, “The Parable of the Sower”, that spreading the Word is comparable to planting gardens or farming.  The person must be fertile ground with rich soil in order for the Word [or seed] to take root and properly grow.  We need to be stripped bare and tilled by our trials and tribulations, fertilized by the need to change, and a hunger for love.  We need to be willing to submit to the Sower, or Farmer, if you will.  We need to open ourselves up to Him, accept Him and allow ourselves to be saturated with His Holy Spirit.  Amen!  It is then and only then that we can be properly seeded and produce a beautiful, strong and righteous crop for our Farmer, our Father, The Almighty God! Love Or Hate ? John 4:7-8  Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.  He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

Dearly Beloved:  May God’s grace, peace, love and glory be ever upon you.  I want to talk to you about the oldest and most lethal disease known to mankind.  Hate!  It is a disease that is both deadly and highly contagious.  Hate and evil are one.  If we embrace hate, then we embrace evil.  When we allow hate to take over our minds, we become accomplices to evil.  The very act of hating invokes evil in us and gives us license to condone the darkness of this world.  Hate turns us into instruments of evil.  We become mindless tools and pawns.  As if black clay, we can be shaped, molded and ultimately malformed by hate.  I have been faced with so much hate these past three and some odd years.  Only love can shield us from hate.  If it were not for the love of Christ, I may have been consumed by hate; enveloped in the total darkness of evil.  I may have become spiteful and devoid of light; angry and full of pain.  My heart may have been a sub-zero slab of stone.  Let me tell you, my beloved, it is so easy for any one of us to fall victim to hate; so easy to succumb to the darkness – especially when we are faced with such great adversity such as I am now.   (more…)

Suicide Is Never The Answer

II Corinthians 4:8-10  We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed—always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.”

Dearly Beloved:  May the blessings of the Lord be upon you.  This post, I am sad to say, was inspired by a very tragic event – suicide.  A few days ago, a man killed himself in the next cell block over from mine.  I did not know him, but his death never-the-less has deeply affected me.  All life matters to God.  This man’s death has hit home for me as an incarcerated man.  You see, it was the despair over his circumstances and the gloominess of confinement which swallowed that man’s life.  He allowed it to consume him.  He succumbed to his suffering and the brutally unjust nature of this world.  It was satan who caused him to destroy himself.  He manipulated him into doing the unthinkable.  We (all of us) are in danger of succumbing to the despair and suffering we face in this world.   (more…)

Me, Myself and I AM 3:14-15
And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”
Moreover God said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.’

Dearest Brothers and Sisters:  Greetings!  May God’s grace, love, peace, joy and protection be ever upon you all.  Let me start by saying, “Praise God!  Praise God!  Praise God!  Amen and Amen!”  It feels so good to praise Him.  Hallelujah!  I love the Lord so much, for He is all mighty and everlasting.  I am truly blessed to report that after many months of separation (due to my solitary confinement in Maine), I was finally reunited with my two eldest children this week.  I was able to visit with each of them individually for several hours.  God Is Great!  Yes, He Is!  Amen!  I knew from the beginning of my situation when I turned myself in that I would be railroaded.  Thus, my heart was heavy when I was transported from Massachusetts to Maine in 2012.  I remember thinking that I may never see my beloved home state again, for I knew that my color would be a huge factor in my case.  Tears streamed down my face as I pondered the possibility of never returning to my place of birth again.  But, you see, I did not know or trust the Lord then.  I was only just beginning to connect with Him.  Nothing in this or any other world can thwart God when He has a plan.  God meant for me to return home and so here I am.  It is true I am still in chains, but nevertheless, I am home.
