“A Light In The Darkness” by Randall S Daluz

A LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS

With strength and endurance, I run this race
Only a breath from my heels, darkness and death are giving chase.
Through the middle of chaos, I charge ahead.
Under attack by evil, worry, doubt and dread.

“You’re worthless!  You won’t make it!”, they howl in my ear.
And suddenly I’m struck by a cold sliver of fear.
My knees start to buckle as my legs begin to give.
I feel like I can’t go on.  I no longer want to live.

I cry out, “Save me, Lord!” as my body begins to fall.
And God comes to my rescue the moment He hears my call.
Slicing through the darkness, there shines a beautiful, brilliant light.
The very instant it touches me, I know I’ll be alright.

My strength returns to me and once again I stand.
The Lord assures me if I fall again, He’ll be there to take my hand.
