SET ME FREE

(Verse 1)
You don’t know my struggle; You can’t feel my pain
A kid trying to hustle on the block counting change
Didn’t know right from wrong; I was wild and free
I found where I belonged, living my life in the streets
It’s where I found love and where I fit in
Getting messed up on drugs, Just me and my friends

All it promised me was a life of complication
Life of dishonesty behind bars I’m incarcerated
I can’t do this anymore, the next step is death
So, I dig down to the core and find what strength is left
I’ve made my decision to break the shackles and chains
From this life in addiction where only I was to blame
I’m telling myself that it will be ok
That I’ve come too far just to throw it away
Whatever the cost, I will stand my ground
You know I won’t give up and I won’t back down

(Chorus x 2)
I know where to start, But where do I end
If I’m in the dark, How can I make amends
Some say let it go; Others say let it be
Lord, how will I’ver know, If you don’t “Set Me Free”

(Verse 2)
Will God be with me, will He rest my soul
Will God set me free from the life I chose
I don’t wanna sin again; I wanna be God’s son
So, for God I’ll repent, no longer will I run
Even though I might fall, at times I may fail
I listen when God calls, I’m determined to prevail
I did once before, so I’ll do it again
I know what’s in store, I will fight ’till the end
Although it will be tough and take full dedication
So, when times get rough, I will show no hesitation
I will never give up ’cause I’ve learnt to be patient
Recovery’s a must, the pathway to salvation
One day at a time is all I do
Gotta stimulate my mind, to thy own self be true
For the ones who relate and live a life like me
Just know it’s never too late to set yourself free

(Chorus x 2)
I know where to start, But where do I end
If I’m stuck in the dark, How can I make amends
Some say let it go; Others say let it be
Lord, how will I’ver know, If you don’t “Set Me Free”

I wanna thank my family for staying by my side
Through all the insanity and times when I lied
When I scarred your heart and I left you broken inside
I tore your lives apart, I left you with lonely cries
Just know I’ve always loved you and I apologize
I hold nothing above you ’cause the past is suicide
I might stumble and fall, but I keep moving on
I’m standing tall and I’m staying strong
I might stumble and fall, but I keep moving on
Before I end this song, may I speak some peace
Special thanks to you, mom, for what you’ve given me
My father was never there putting food on our plates
Poor single mother on welfare raising kids off the state
So, through all the stress, no help from my dad
My mother did her best with everything that she had
Although we never had much, we always had each other
Just me, two beautiful sisters and a wonderful mother
