American Institution

American Institution - by Randall S Daluz

AMERICAN INSTITUTION

These four walls that surround me
Are meant to confine and contain
They chill my bones as they crowd me with a coldness
That is monochrome and plain

These four walls that surround me
Are like concrete blocks of pain
They fill my head with thoughts
Which are melancholy, monotonous and mundane.

These four walls are meant to oppress me
And to bind me
And restrain
They put me through the same routine day by day
Then they define
me
as insane.

These four walls are thieves that steal my liberty and my time
But though they trap my body
They shall never take my mind.
